Colin Rowe, architectural historian and teacher, was born in 1920 in Rotherham, Yorkshire, England. He began studies at the Liverpool School of Architecture, then left to join the British infantry in 1942. After World War II he studied at the Warburg Institute in London, where he completed requirements for a master's degree in the history of art. After arriving in the U. S. in 1952, he studied briefly at Yale, worked in California, and taught at the University of Texas in Austin. After teaching ...
